Dear Henderson Resident,davidgibsonpic.jpgdavidgibsonpic.jpgdavidgibsonpic.jpg

I am running for Henderson Justice of the Peace

because I want to serve the community my family

and I call home. With my years of experience

within the Clark County judicial system, I ask

for the opportunity to serve the residents of

Henderson as your next Justice of the Peace.

I believe I am the most qualified candidate seeking this newly created position.  I have been a practicing attorney for nearly 27 years, and those years have afforded me a great diversity of experience.  I have done appellate work before the Nevada Supreme Court, and am licensed to practice before the United States District Court.  In Specialty Courts, I have served on teams with prosecutors, treatment providers and probation and parole officers

The past 2 ½ years I have been a Hearing Master in Dependency Court.  In this capacity I have had to weigh the arguments presented by the prosecutors and the defense, and make decisions to protect abused children and supervise offending parents.  This experience in itself has prepared me to “hit the ground running” as the new Henderson Justice of the Peace.

I currently am a member of the National Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges, the National Association of Drug Court Professionals, the Clark County Bar Association, and the Nevada State Bar. On the Judicial Improvement Committee, I serve on a subcommittee writing a Dependency Benchbook, and on a Subcommittee on Foster Care Improvement.

I was raised in Henderson and my wife Teresa and I raised our 5 children here in Henderson.  Throughout the years I have been involved in our community in a variety of ways. I organized and currently administer a Truancy Court at B. Mahlon Brown Jr. High School.  I presently serve on the Board of Las Vegas Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, and Chairman of the El Dorado District.  I have been a member of the Henderson Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board and the Henderson Parks & Recreation Board.

I’m happy to answer any questions you may have and I can be reached directly at 702-275-6813, or my e-mail at VoteDavidGibson@cox.net.

Sincerely,

David Gibson, Sr.

Candidate for Henderson Justice of Peace
